What do you need? Great story about Principal Terry Patton in Baltimore

This is a great story that Roberto Ferdman of VICE News did on Principal Terry Patton at Franklin Squire Elementary/Middle School in Baltimore, Maryland.

They asked, “what do you need to get to school” – some very simple solvable answers, a clock to wake up on time or clean clothes.  The school bought everyone clocks, someone donated a washer and dryer.

A reward for strong attendance is a hair cut.  “Self image can hurt attendance”.

THIS is how families and communities can get involved.  Just by asking…”what do you need”, that answers could be very simple and solvable.
